VBHC Thinkers Magazine, Autumn 2022 Edition

More than ever before we are told to strive to be more patient centric in the ways we reimburse and deliver healthcare. As the life expectancy has dramatically increased over the past century, the portion of life human beings spend in moderate and poor health has changed relatively little. This implies that we spend more years in poor health than at any other point in history.

We need a healthcare system that promotes spending time with loved ones, more time free from cognitive or physical impairments, and a deeper connection with nature. As the VBHC community, we fortunately see that increasingly many multidisciplinary care teams accompany their patients through their illness and support them in adding years to their lives and life to their years.
