Reflections on the new area of smart Value-Based Health Care (VBHC) implementation
Reflecting on the 2,215 successful VBHC
implementation stories and our nearly 20-year journey, the knowledge on implementation has progressed significantly. One thing is striking: we now see multiple pathways to achieving full implementation of all VBHC elements. The warning from Prof. Porter in 2006—that all elements need to be implemented over time—has proven correct. Implementing just two or three elements of what later became the Value Agenda is too costly and will not generate enough patient value. It is like playing golf with only a 7-iron.
