“At last year’s conference, we released the first four ICHOM Standard Sets of outcomes, for cataracts, coronary artery disease, localized prostate cancer, and low back pain. This year, we have ramped up our efforts: a Working Group for Parkinson’s disease, led by Dr. Ryan Uitti of the Mayo Clinic, is underway, and soon we will launch efforts in advanced prostate cancer, cleft lip and palate, depression and anxiety, and lung cancer, among others By 2017, with the continued support of our cofounders and sponsoring partners, we aim to have published Standard Sets for more than fifty of the world’s most burdensome conditions.
In addition to our ongoing standardization efforts, this year’s conference will focus on implementation: why – and how – to put the Standard Sets into practice. Providers from around the world who are measuring the Standard Sets will highlight best practices in gearing up for implementation, share data-collection tools and data-management strategies, and discuss the benefits of outcomes-based care. We will also explore the ICHOM Implementation Network, an online community for our Measuring Partners around the world that we have just launched.
